ক্যানাডার ফরেন পলিসি বিশ্বে ক্যানাডার যে সম্মানজনক অবস্থান ছিল, তা কি ধীরে ধীরে মলিন হতে চলেছে?এ প্রশ্ন আজ অনেক ক্যানাডিয়ানের মনে। জাতিসংঘের শান্তিরক্ষা বাহিনীর প্রস্তাবকারী এবং তদারককারী ক্যানাডা 

ধীরে ধীরে কনজারভেটিভ সরকারের পাল্লায় পড়ে মারমুখো ক্যানাডায় রূপান্তরিত হচ্ছে? বিশ্বের কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দেশের কাছে সিকিউরিটি কাউন্সিলের ভোটে ক্যানাডার পরাজয় একদিকে যেমন লজ্জাষ্কর, অপরদিকে সাধারণ ক্যানাডিয়ানদের মনে ক্যানাডার ফরেন পলিসি এবং লিডারশিপ নিয়ে বিভিন্ন প্রশ্নের উদ্রেক হয়েছে।  আফগানিস্তানে সৈন্য প্রেরণ এবং আরব মুসলিম দেশের সাথে বৈরী সম্পর্ক, ইলেকশনের মাত্র ২দিন পূর্বে ইসরাইলের সাথে বাণিজ্য বৃদ্ধির ঘোষণা, ইসরাইলীদের প্রতি কনজারভেটিদের দ্ব্যার্থ সমর্থন, আমেরিকার সাথে তাল মিলিয়ে আফ্রিকান ও মুসলিমদেশগুলোর প্রতি তিক্ত মনোভাব ইত্যাদি বিভিন্ন কারনে ক্যানাডাকে আজ কলম্বিয়া, পর্তুগাল ও ইন্ডিয়ার মত কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দেশের সাথেও পাল্লা দিয়ে হারতে হয়েছে। অতি সম্প্রতি ইউনাইটেড নেশনের “দুরবান” সম্মেলনকে বয়কট করার ঘোষনা করা হয়েছে –দুরবান সম্মেলনকে ঘৃনার উতসব বলেও আখ্যায়ীত করা হয়েছে ।   শুধু তাই নয়, জি-২০ সম্মেলনে বিশ্ব দারিদ্র্য বিমোচনে ক্যানাডার পূর্বের অবস্থান থেকে সরে এসে সাশ্রয়ের ঘোষণাও অনেক দরিদ্র দেশকে নাখোশ করেছে। এই প্রথম বারের মত ক্যানাডার কোন সরকার (হারপার) সিকিউরিটি কাউন্সিলের সদস্য পদ মেইনটেন করতে ব্যর্থ হয়েছে। শুধু ফরেন পলিসির কারনে ৫৭ টি মুসলিম দেশ ক্যানাডা ভোট দানে বিরত থাকে । অন্য দিকে বন্ধু নির্ধারনেও কৌশলী হওয়া প্রয়োজন , ভারতের সাথে ভালো সম্পর্ক থাকা সত্ত্বেও ভারত পর্তুগালকে ভোট দিয়েছে । এটা ক্যানাডার জন্য বেশ বড় বিপর্যয় বৈকি। তাই ক্যানাডার জনগণকেই এখন বুঝে শুনে দায়িত্ব নিতে হবে। বিশ্বের কাছে পূর্বেকার অবস্থায় ফিরে যেতে হলে, ক্যানাডার ফরেন পলিসিতে ব্যাপক কাটাছেঁড়া আনতে/করতে হবে।

Canadians may rightly lament for the days of PIERRE TRUDEAU. These and many others following them built the high image of Canada. Canadians now under conservative are finding that all the achievements; image and respect in the international arena are gradually being put down to dust. This Canada was  the  proposer and initiator of the creation of UN peace keeping force, respected for track record on human rights  in Canada as well as outside and assisting all good  causes  has been downgraded to such an extent that it has to got defeat from Portugal for a temporary seat in security council of the UN. This fall in international scenario has the achievement of the Canadian conservatives under Harper for blindly, illogically supporting and working for the American New -cons under G.W. Bush. Being the Supporter and working for the oppressors. So, gradually Canada is getting isolated, ridiculed and even condemned. Canada's international standing can be gauged from the fact that India being its good ally voted for Portugal. Blindly supporting the Israelis oppressors, sending troops to Afghanistan, so most of the 57 Muslim countries have gone against Canada. Canada has boycotted the Durbaan Convention of the UN dubbing it as 'hate convention'. It has also stepped down from its commitment to eliminate poverty in the last G-20 conference which has also disheartened the poor developing countries. Now the question the Canadians cans legitimately ask? How far these new-con protégées under Harper will lower grade the image of this great country?It is perhaps the proper time for Canadians to pursue against the damaging policy of this conservative government. ।
